2017 National 8(a) Association Small Business Conference

The 2017 National 8(a) Winter Conference is a two day event February 6-8, 2017 in Orlando, Florida specifically tailored to small businesses to provide resources and information on how to navigate and capatilize on the ever-changing world of federal contracting. The nation’s top legal firms, accountants, key federal officials and the industry’s best consultants will be there to help give you the knowledge, education and resources you need to grow your business and achieve a higher level of success. Federal Agencies and Prime Contractors will have the opportunity to explain exactly what it is they are looking for and what you need to do to secure contracts with them. In addition tailored sessions for small businesses, minority businesses, current 8(a) companies, and graduated 8(a) companies will be offered as well as matchmaking with federal agencies and large business primes and multiple networking opportunities to meet prospective teaming partners.

The 2015 Summer Conference was held at the Marriott Downtown in Anchorage, Alaska on June 14 & 15. This conference was designed to help 8(a) certified and non-8(a) certified businesses gain the valuable education, promotion, and federal contracting information they need to further advance their level of experience and achieve a higher degree of success. Speakers from Department of Energy, NASA, The Boeing Company, US Army Corps of Engineers, and The Small Business Administration were some of the wonderful speakers who joined us this year. This years Winter Conference had record breaking attendance and we are happy to say this was our largest event to date. The 2016 Winter Conference took place on February 9th and 10th at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida. The focus of the conference was federal and legal updates along with how to work with federal agencies and prime contractors. Attendees had the chance to hear from and ask questions to many key players in the 8(a) world such as Jackie Robinson-Burnette, John Klein, Kenyata Wesley and many more. The nation’s top legal firms and the industry’s best consultants were also there to help give the knowledge needed to become successful and stay that way. The 2016 Winter Conference is the second year the TRIAD group has joined us, bringing with them countless SBLOs and networking opportunities. Our sponsor American Express Open hosted our matchmaking event "Contract Connections" where buyers and sellers met to build lasting connections. During the conference attendees were encouraged to take advantage of the uniqure opportunity to meet with and learn about important resources such as Dun & Bradstreet, MBDA, USHCC, and Associated General Contractors of America.

Speakers from British Petroleum, Haris Corporation, Department of Justice, The Air Force Office of Small Business Programs, and TSA were some of the wonderful speakers who joined us this year. Federal Agencies and Prime Contractors had the opportunity to explain exactly what it is they are looking for and what you need to do to secure contracts with them. We are also excited to announce that this year the TRIAD Winter Meeting was held in addition to the National 8(a) Association 2015 Winter Conference on February 5th, 2015.

The 2014 Summer Conference was held in Anchorage, Alaska at the Anchorage Marriott Downtown. We were fortunate to have in attendance agencies such as: GSA, Department of State, Department of HHS, Army Corps of Engineers, the SBA and many more. Thanks to our wonderful lineup of dynamic and knowledgeable speakers this conference was yet another success. Attendees had a chance to listen to federal updates and the “how-to’s" of the industry as well as learn best practice from success stories like Carlos Garcia (KIRA). In a separate breakout room attendees were also given the opportunity to sit down and network with federal agencies and prime contractors.

The 2014 Winter Conference was held at the Disney Yacht Club in Orlando Florida. It was quite possibly our most dynamic conference yet, with over 40 speakers from Federal Agencies to top Prime Contractors. New to our conference this year were Prime Contractors such as Hensel Phelps, Oribtal Sciences, Booz Allen Hamilton, and National Goverment Services as well as many others. We were proud to have Joset B Wright-Lacey President from theNational Minority Supplier Development Council and Andre Gudger from Department of Defense as our keynote speakers this year. We welcomed back American Express OPEN Contract Connections for another wonderful matchmaking session.


2013 Fall Summit

The 2013 Fall Summit was held at the Hilton Crystal City in Washington D.C. This summit gave attendees the ability to connect with and build personal relationships with other companies which a small business could utilized for prime/sub, teaming arrangement or mentor protégé agreements. 

Companies had the chance to hear federal agencies describing the specifics of how to acquire contracts and do business with that agency. American Express also provieded a match making session between prime contractors/federal agencies and small businesses so that the agency could describe what they need and how they need it done and for the small business to better under understand the options available to them at each agency.


2013 Summer Conference

The 2013 Summer Conference was held in beautiful Anchorage, Alaska and invited small minority business owners from around the nation to congregate in one area and learn about how to win federal contracts and grants.

Guests were introduced to numerous speakers and had the chance to participate in various workshops aimed at furthering education. Notable speakers included Bob Tompkins, Partner, Patton Boggs, Kimberly Ball, Deputy Director OSDBU, USAID, and Richard Hernandez, author of “8(a) Survival Guide”.


2013 Winter Conference

The 2013 Winter Conference was held at the Disney World Yacht Clun Resort in February 2013. The purpose of this conference was to further the education of small, minority business owners looking to learn more about the 8(a) Certification as well as build relationships with numerous federal agencies.

Notable speakers at this conference included Dan Sturdivant of the Department of Homeland Security, David Mitchell, Senior Vice President, Action Capital, and Shep Drisko, Director OSDBU, Department of State.

All of our conferences seek to bring small minority business owners together with speakers and lecturers from all over the country in order to further the education of participants and relationships between participants and federal agencies.
