What to Expect for Matchmaking

American Express Contract Connections (Matchmaking) meetings are 10-minute one-on-one appointments between Suppliers and Buyers (small businesses and agencies/large primes).

Matchmaking will be on February 12, 2019 from 1:30pm - 4:30pm & February 13, 2019 from 12:30pm - 4:00pm and located in Ryman Hall B1-2

Registering for Matchmaking

  • When registering for the Conference you will be asked “Will you be participating in Business-to-Business Matchmaking?” When you select “Yes” you will be prompted additional questions for matchmaking. Please select “Supplier” if you are a small business and “Buyer” if you are a federal agency or large prime.

  • Suppliers registering for the Conference on February 6, 2019 or later can stop by the Matchmaking Info Desk while at the Conference or email info@national8aassociation.org prior to the Conference to check if there are any available appointments.

  • If you already submitted your registration and didn’t indicate you were interested in participating in matchmaking please stop by the Matchmaking Info Desk while at the Conference or email info@national8aassociation.org prior to the Conference to check if there are any available appointments.

  • Once registered for matchmaking you will receive an email requesting additional information about your company.

  • Note that indicating your interest in matchmaking does not guarantee a meeting with a buyer.

Your meetings

  • Matchmaking meetings are pre-matched per company by National 8(a) Association

  • Any company information such as a capabilities statement can be sent to Melissa Szasz at info@national8aassociation.org for consideration. Please send no later than January 28, 2019.

  • An email will be sent the week prior to the Conference with a copy of your company’s meeting schedule only if your company’s capabilities align with any of our buyers and there’s an available appointment.

    • Note that you may receive multiple emails with an attached meeting schedule for each day of Matchmaking.

    • Please add info@national8aassociation.org to your contact list to ensure you receive our emails.

  • Buyers: Additional meetings may be added to your schedule throughout the Conference to accommodate Suppliers who signed up for Matchmaking on or after February 6, 2019.

At the conference

  • Be sure to bring a copy of your matchmaking meetings, however, schedules can be printed at the Matchmaking Info Desk.

  • There is no need to check in for your meetings at the registration desk, unless you have any schedule changes/cancellations.

  • If you're a Buyer, please let the Matchmaking Coordinator know so they can show you to your table.

  • If you’re a Supplier, please arrive 5 minutes prior to your scheduled meeting start time and line up in the “Appointments” queue.

    • Take this time to find which table number your “Buyer” is seated at (a Buyer table listing for each day will be provided).

  • The Matchmaking Coordinator will announce when it is time to proceed into the matchmaking area for your meeting.

  • Each meeting is only 10 minutes, please be mindful and perfect your pitch.

    • At 8 minutes a 2-minute warning will be announced for you to begin concluding your meeting.

    • At 10 minutes a final announcement will be made for you to proceed to the exit.

    • If you have another meeting immediately after you will still need to exit the matchmaking area and line up in the “Appointments” queue again .

  • Additional meetings will be offered through “Open-Call” in real time. These meetings will become available 2 minutes after a scheduled meeting time has started.

    • Buyers: You’ll have the ability to let the Matchmaking Coordinator know if you have a “no-show” or an available appointment and would like to have an “Open-Call” meeting.

    • Suppliers: You will need to wait in the “Open-Call” queue and listen for an announcement to know which table/buyer is available.

  • Many Buyers also have exhibit booths, please feel free to also visit with them there as well.

DOn’t’s

  • Be late, after 1 minute you will be considered a no-show and your meeting will be given to business waiting in the “Open-Call” queue.

  • Walk into the matchmaking area unless you have an appointment or were selected for an open-call meeting.

  • Walk around the tables looking for an available buyer to meet with or to just drop your business card.
