manager, supplier diversity, hensel phelps

As a Manager of Supplier Diversity for Hensel Phelps, Mr. Harper works to support the growth of local small businesses, and ensure full compliance with project-specific participation requirements. He regularly engages in outreach and develops community, small, and local business partnering opportunities, as well as workforce incorporation programs. He has worked to establish and maintain Mentor-Protégé Programs, and engage the resources of industry-based organizations to open new opportunities for our partners.

After joining Hensel Phelps in 2004, Mr. Harper served as a Field Engineer, Office Engineer, Project Engineer, and Business Development Manager for the firm with an expertise in quality control. During his tenure on the project team for the Marriott Marquis in Washington, DC, his interest in helping smaller subcontractors succeed evolved to a full-time position handling local small business and workforce development requirements. It was following this project that he and his colleagues established Hensel Phelps’ Supplier Diversity Group, and he took on a more specialized role.

Mr. Harper holds a B.S. in Architectural Engineering from Tennessee State University, and is a LEED Accredited Professional through the U.S. Green Building Council.
