Mario Burgos

CEO, Burgos Group

Mr. Mario Burgos is a market entrepreneur with over 20 years of C-level operations and professional services experience in a variety of industries throughout the United States and abroad. He holds a B.A. from New York University and an M.S. from California State University, Northridge.

As the CEO of Burgos Group, Mario provides the strategic leadership, market focus and operational plan, which has grown Burgos Group from two employees to just under 100 in the span of five years – and still growing. This success has landed the company for the last two years on the NM Flying 40, Albuquerque Business First’s 25 Fastest Growing Companies List and the Inc. 5000. Earlier this year, Burgos Group was nominated by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) and selected as the 2015 SBA Prime Contractorof the Year for Region VI. In 2013, Burgos Group was honored with a Patriotic Employer Award for their commitment to hiring underemployed and unemployed Guard and Reservists.

Prior to Burgos Group, Mario was the managing member of a full-service marketing and communications firm, which he grew from $300,000 to just under $3 million in revenue in a 24 month period by serving clients in New Mexico and on both coasts. Before that, Mario served as President of Junior Achievement in New Mexico and simultaneously in El Paso, Texas. His success in turning around
and then dramatically growing both of these organizations in a financially viable manner won him national recognition and awards.

Mario’s past community involvement is diverse and includes having coached boys’ competitive soccer teams for nine years as well as represented New Mexicans as the chairman of two committees on the National Taxpayer Advocacy Panel for IRS reform - an appointment by the U.S. Treasury Secretary and the IRS Commissioner.

Currently, he serves on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Carrie Tingley Hospital Foundation and serves as President of the Society of American Military Engineers – Albuquerque Post. He is an active member of the Professional Aerospace Contractors Association, the Association of Commerce and Industry, the Associated Builders and Contractors and the Associated General
Contractors.
